    Hard week

This week has been a hard week for me, lots of things going on at home and I haven't had a chance to update my post since Monday.

This week I have noticed improved eye contact with Matthias. Usually when I ask him to look at me and ask me what he wants he will initially look at me, but then once he starts talking he will look away. Well this week each time I have answered a question for him or he is asking me something he looks me right in the eyes!!! This is a major accomplishment for Matthias!!! I had heard that with the Methyl B12 shots that could be one of the improvements and I'm so glad it is! We also have been seeing, what they term as a side effect of taking the shots. He has started 'mouthing' everything, doesn't matter what it is he will put it in his mouth for no reason. He hasn't done that since he was about 2 and it stopped at about 3. But they say it is normal once he starts the B12. Why? You may ask, well the Methyl B12 starts to wake up nerves in his mouth that haven't work ever. So accentially he is starting to feel things he never has felt before and frankly I think that is good news :)

Besides that we keep seeing the same progress I have posted on already, I do have to say the ONE thing I was hoping it would help, well sadly, as of yet, it has not :(. But I am praying we will see improvement in that area.

Please pray for us to see continued growth in Matthias progress and for strength for me. This week has been a hard week for me, much more than usual.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers

    Progress with Easter

In the past holidays have always been a HUGE struggle for Matthias. When he was little he never did well with big crowds or lots of noise. Of course the older he got, it was increasingly harder to take him places for the holidays or have my large family come over. After his diagnosis of autism I started to learn what to do to ease the stress level for him. Each year it got a little better and this past year, well on the holidays quite frankly......... I've been BLOWN AWAY!!! Christmas went so smoothly I could hardly believe it, and his birthday party went great, and now Easter! Well for the first time in 5 years of his life he dyed easter eggs with very little prompting by me and he had fun!!! Then Easter morning was great! (Even though we were not able to attend church we do have a home church that works great with him, but they don't have sunday school on easter and church service well that will be a huge accomplishment for him one day :) ) He found his easter basket and had fun playing with his new toys and then when his cousins came over for the egg hunt he did great!! And even told me, Mommy this is fun!!!

Daily he is improving so much with his language skills, its amazing!! Matthias has never been able to tell me, without prompting him to say so, Mommy this is fun!! He is starting to verbalize so many things that I'm starting to lose track! So from time to time, you may see little blogs with just words or sentences or expressions he has said. This way I can show the progress he is making :)...

I hope you all had a great easter! I know we did! Next year we're aiming for being able to go to church together!!!
