    A Dose of Controvercy (Warning)

I'm not happy about the broadcast so there may be some things in here some may find offensive...

Really, truelly should have been titled a "Dose of crap"

I'm very disappointed in the coverage on Dateline NBC they said they would be fair and balanced, hmm funny how they still made us out to be a bunch of uneducated parents who are just deseperate for answers and will follow whoever gives us something to hope in....

Really?... I am... an educated parent who thought LONG AND HARD before I even chose to do biomedical treatments for my child and ... ITS WORKING I might add... but yet jerks like Paul offit publish garbage like his book only making us out to be even bigger idiots. I was hoping for once we would hear the good parts of what our doctors are doing.  They by far did NOT cover enough of the good research, treatments and care our kids are getting. They gave more covereage to the jerk Offit then they did to the DAN coferences and parents they interviewed.

Can you tell I am irritated?? All I managed to do by watching this program was elevate my blood pressure......gggrrrrrr....... so I went to Datelines website and left a comment. It says they have to approve those comments first before they show up. So I copied what I wrote and pasted it here.

Read on my dear friends :) and if you feel you want to comment on their site please do. I wish I could say I loved the program, but in all honesty I was let down.

My response to Datelines coverage of Dr. Wakefield.

I was very disappointed in your coverage of Dr.Wakefield. I am a parent of a child with autism who is doing biomedical treatments for my child and I am currently waiting and spreading out my youngest sons vaccinations. Through out the whole broadcast I caught several times where parents who chose to space out vaccinations are referred to as anti-vaccine.

In all honesty, I am tired of being labeled as that since it is entirely untrue. Also I noticed there was ALOT more coverage of what you consider as Dr.Wakefields controversial research, than there was coverage of all the great things he is doing at Thoughtful House in Texas.

In addition, towards the end of your program when Mr.Lauer was speaking to Dr.Wakefield he said isn't he(dr.wakefield)just preying on parents who are desperate who may have not done any research into the scientific studies done. I find they comment offensive. As a parent of a child with autism, I have done my share of investigating everything out their on research done on both sides. I thought long and hard before we started our biomedical treatments for my son, and even longer when we chose not to vaccinate right away our youngest child.

I trully was hoping that because Mr.Lauer was doing the interview that it would be more balanced, but I feel not enough was shown on all the great things that they are doing for children with autism. Here's hoping that maybe one day you will be able to show all the good things that are going on as well.

Well its late, long day tomorrow!

    Much love,

    Its Official...

School has started for me and I am loving being back in College! It makes me long for my earlier years, that now seem so care free and fun... But I wouldn't give up my life now for anything :) Its interesting, God definitely has me on a different Journey this year, but I am learning to hold tight fast to Him and learn from everything He is teaching me.

As you have probably guessed life has been very hectic lately. Since the start of Our Journey of Hope, LOTS has happened for Handsome. Many ups and some downs, but its amazing to see the progress my Handsome boy has made. I can not be more proud of him! He is loving being in school full time, and even though we lost our OT, he is doing pretty good so far. I have decided until we find another OT to supplement his hours of therapy with his HAB providers, and I am in the process of getting another provider who comes to us with HIGH recommendations!

Handsome also started with his new HAB provider last week and absolutely loves him. I'm so glad he seems to connect well with his HAB workers so quickly! Unfortunately because he has started school, Handsome has also caught some bug and shared it with his brother. So, this week I have two sick little boys on my hands as well as HORRID yeast die off poop ICKY... I can not express to you how yucky it is, but many of you already know this :) In the same breath as I express how yucky it is, I'm also VERY happy that he is getting ride of it!! Geeee its only taken a month!!! Handsomes DAN doctor said he had to have been very impacted and that's why it has taken so long.

NOW, lets talk about some new progress shall we :)

Just this past week Handsomes imaginative play has increased drastically!!! He is asking me things like, " Can I have what your eating Mommy?" and "Who is that on the phone" These are things he has never done before.... I can't tell you how many times i have heard from people I meet, telling me how huge his language skills are! He played with the kids at the playground here in our complex and his bloated belly is getting much smaller!

Again, I can NOT thank my lenders and lend4health enough for contributing to Handsomes HUGE progress! My cup is overflowing with gratitude for you all!

Well, time to make some dinner for my boys, lets hope they will eat. Its no fun eating when you can't taste the food!

Also, please read this posting http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2009/08/nbc-news-will-take-on-wakfield.html and mark your calendars and watch NBC they are doing a report on Dr. Wakefield and Thoughtful House. Lets hope and pray it is a good report and that they are actually fair and reporting the truth about this wonderful Doctor and all the help they are giving our kids!
