Since 2006 my life has revolved around that word.... autism.... as much as I dislike autism... it has become a part of my daily life. In the past 4 years I have learned how to cope with the ups and downs of autism and the joys and trials that it brings. Along the way, I continue to educate myself on everything I can by reading and staying involved in the autism community. Sadly, there are MANY of us, but I am so grateful for all of the wonderful, beautiful people I have met in our community.
This weekend, I have a wonderful opportunity to go to a one day Autism Conference here in Phoenix,http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e2xakuhwcdf8dc5e put on by The Autism Society of America and ACT Today, the guest speaker will be Dr. Andrew Wakefield. I am still reading his book Callous Disregard and have to say I am not shocked by the cover up and dishonesty that took place in slandering this honored man and doctor. I can say I am looking forward to being able to sit in a room full of wonderful parents, families and friends who are all on the same journey as I am. And I can't wait to hear Dr.Wakefield speak and watch his movie called "Hear the Silence", and watch two more great documentaries as well.
